“Writing articles in the field of science is a quality which is quite difficult to master even for people belonging to the highest strata of the scientific community. Dr Banerjee’s exclusive calibre in portrayal of complex phenomena in a manner of story-telling and in a language, that is comprehensible to the lay-man is something which engages and inspires his readers to delve deeper into the respective topic. Being from the field of Biological Sciences, his articles during the pandemic have helped his readers to enhance their knowledge and be less panic-stricken amongst an ocean full of misconceptions during the initial phases. Moreover, his keen inclination towards ancient Indian science and its contributions to our modern-day livelihood is absolutely remarkable and noteworthy. In a nutshell, Dr Banerjee is the man to count upon while looking up for a lucid explanation on a given scientific topic”.

The passion for scientific writing & Editing...

I always get inspiration from this superb quote- "Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing" delivered by great philosopher-writer-inventor, Benjamin Franklin. From earlier in my professional career, I felt a curious urge to simplify the complicated and cutting-edge scientific research news in form of short articles or blogs which will be easily comprehendible for anyone. Therefore, driven by the passion as "make science simple", I am continuing my journey as a scientific writer and editor.

Curcumin: From Exotic Spice to Modern Anticancer Drug

Inhibition of defined molecular steps of tumourigenesis by natural non-toxic compounds may be an efficient means to tackle the population cancer burden. Extensive research has addressed the chemotherapeutic potential of curcumin (diferuloylmethane), a relatively non-toxic plant derived polyphenol. Curcumin is used for centuries in cuisine and indigenous medicine against several major human diseases. Cancer is the second leading cause of death worldwide. Many people may not be aware of flax seeds and their high nutritional values. Flax a kind of annual herb with blue flowers. This herb produces golden-yellow coloured seeds that are small and ‘flat’ in appearance. Flax seeds are also known as ‘linseed’ when we use the seeds for industrial purpose to make linen clothes. From ancient times the people have been making clothes with

The Modulation of Apoptotic Pathways by Gammaherpesviruses

Apoptosis or programmed cell death is a tightly regulated process fundamental for cellular development and elimination of damaged or infected cells during the maintenance of cellular homeostasis. It is also an important cellular defense mechanism against viral invasion. In many instances, abnormal regulation of apoptosis has been associated with a number of diseases, including cancer development. Following infection of host cells, persistent and oncogenic viruses such as the members of the Gamma
